Our Roots
In 1970, industrial designer Frank Roberts severely injured his back playing tennis. Hospitalized and placed in traction, he found temporary relief through spinal immobilization—but pain returned once the cast was removed. Unable to find effective support products, he cut his body cast in half, padded it, and used it as a makeshift backrest. It worked.
When the cast became too heavy and fragile to carry, Frank set out to design a lightweight, ergonomic solution. Collaborating with medical experts, he created a portable, spine-supporting backrest made from resilient materials. In 1980, ObusForme was born—offering innovative support products based on real pain, real recovery, and real results.
