Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great for a short time. I bought this humidifier in March 2018 and it worked great for several months. I emptied and dried it each morning and only had small amount of build up which went away with demineralization tablet. I cleaned it with white vinegar and warm water weekly. However, two months ago the ultrasonic membrane (which I cleaned very gently with clean white paper towel) disconnected and fell back into base each time I put tank on. Also, the small screws holding it all together are rusted. Quite expensive considering I only got 6 months use for $60.00.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mold & foul smell I used this in my newborns nursery to help w her nose congestion. This humidifier is not easy to clean at all. The inside of the tank is impossible to scrub and mold/slime quickly builds up. It wasn’t even a month after I started using it that I noticed a “wet rag” smell. This is despite following all the cleaning instructions on the manual. To make matters worse, I called Homedics to order a replacement tank (since you can’t clean the mold off) and was told I’d receive it in 2-3 weeks. When I called 2 weeks later for an update, they said they didn’t have the tanks in stock and had “no idea” when they’d be getting them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Would like some tips/help? This product worked great for about a year for me and now it is randomly shutting off— similar to some of the complaints I see below. I’m not sure how long it runs for, but I’ve woken up at multiple different times and it is no longer dispensing mist even though I still have it turned on. Why is this occurring? Is there a way to fix it? It was pricey compared to other options, so I really would expect better quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from NIce and quiet operation First time trying this brand. It holds a good amount of water. Have to say this is the quietest humidifier. Yes you will hear a little of the water getting into the reservoir but that happens. This is not loud at all. So far 4 nights of operation and just getting to need refill. We have whole house water filtration so the demineralization cartridge was not needed as explained by the customer service rep. But as told it wouldn't hurt to put it in. Great customer service for any questions you may have. Like the auto shut off. However would like if you put a very small red or green light on the front. Have to say it is so quiet you don't know it is operating. The mist is good with a choice of higher or lower misting. And no residue at all. This model does not have a directional mister it only goes up one way, but you can control the height of the mist by setting the turn knob in a different direction to make a higher or lower mist. The night light is bright, however, a very good thing to have. Overall great operation.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mold and mildew building up I bought this humidifier about 40 days ago, my husband I loved it. That is until the other night when we found mildew or mold all inside the water and main unit. Like another review states- it�۪s impossible to clean the crevices that seem to have said mildew.

Where do you put the demineralization cartridge and is it necessary to use one?

Place the demineralization cartridge inside the water tank. The HoMedics demineralization cartridge will help reduce the potential for white dust, a deposit of minerals left behind from using hard water in your humidifier.

Homedics Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier| 1.4 Gallon Tank, okay use Tea Tree oil ( a black mold killer) to CLEAN humidifier, then rinse out, and resume using it or will it damagw ultrasonic membrane? White Vinegar not working.

Do not use oils in the humidifier. Oils can damage the ultrasonic membrane. It is recommend to use a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water to clean the humidifier. You can remove any build up with a soft bristle brush.

This is my second unit. I love the design, had to return the first one, it stopped having mist and it was new. This one WHINES all of a sudden and the water goes down but does not create mist. I bought this one in February so it's out of warranty.

My unit "gurgles" from the right side of the base. It is intermittent but does awaken us. Any ideas???? Also, the water level was over half full

The demineralization cartridge should be replaced every 30 - 40 fillings of the tank.

I bought this humidifier and it’s been working great.  Now it stops no mist coming out. I have to turn off and turn back on for it to start again and then the  Mist will start again.  Is there something wrong with it?  First one I bought leaked!
