I have a tender back, some days more than others . I also own towels . this mcs-510h is perfect for me because with or without adding a towel or a couple towels I can have the perfect adjustment. medically your not suppose to have to much heat for a deep penetrating muscle muscle massage. I have had this cushion for a month and use it one hour every day. the heat on mine is just rite, I didn't buy a heating pad

Someone at work bought a sbm 200 series at a yard sale and donated it to the break room. One of the guys said "that thing will abuse you", but I just fell in love with the way the rolling balls worked the knots out of my lower back. The first couple of passes over the tight muscles might hurt a little but it really loosens the muscles up, a few minutes in the chair, I can stand up straighter and the constant dull ache is gone from my lower back. I started looking for one for home.
I decided to purchase the HoMedics MCS-510H thinking the oscillating bars and width adjustment would cover more of my back. The bars have a little different motion. I am not sure I don't like the rolling discs of the 200 slightly better for my lower back, but the Total bars work fine. Where the 510H really wins is our upper back and shoulder blades. My wife has tightness in that area from lifting patients at the hospital, she loves this one.
I am 6' 4". I have the 510H mounted on a high back wooden rocking chair. I can just slide the cushion up to reach to the base of my neck. If I have one complaint, the 510H has a thicker stiffer back and does not conform to the arch of my back as well as the softer 200 series. 5 stars I can't say enough good things about either model. Not really impressed. It kind of hurts and the heat does not get that hot. Have had lots of real massages before and this doesn't come close. Most of my problems are upper back and this seemed to make it worse.

Follow all the directions and it works as it was designed to. Directions instruct the user to place towel or blanket over cushion to reduce pressure. The only problem I had, was my 1st one wore out after 6+ years.
As far as the price, way cheaper than a visit or two to the chiropractor and you don't have to pay again!!! If you really depend on it, the price is just pennies per day. I'd give it a ten if they'd more stars. I have back problems and use mine almost daily and at times, more than once a day. It keeps me walking upright!!!!!

I got this cushion about 2 months ago and I love it. It is little bit on the expensive side, but considering the new concept of oscillating rollers I think it is worth it. At first one of the buttons on the corded controller was sticky and would not respond. Eventually the button got in line and it's working fine. I could have given five stars if it was little bit less expensive.

Just bought this model and tried it for a couple of days only. Gives a very powerful excellent massage but with a tendency to hurt a bit on the bones but when it does just pull your back forward a bit and you're OK. I place a thick towel over the back to tone down the aggressive action. It does as advertised all buttons work well on the remote. It massages the shoulders but not the trapezius muscle. The spot function works well. All around an excellent machine.
